FreeWire Technologies is a provider of fully-integrated, EV fast charging solutions that operate at the “edge of the grid” by utilizing existing low voltage infrastructure to acquire energy which is stored in an integrated 160 kWh battery pack, which can then be used for DC fast-charging of EVs with its “Boost Charger” product, a standalone charging station with 2 ports.
Founded and led by Arcady Sosinov, CEO, the company looks to operate in both retail and fleet charging and is targeting deployment of 2,500 charging stations by 2025, with 200 of those already in use. The company also has a battery-powered mobile EV charging station dubbed the “Mobi EV Charger”, which can be quickly deployed anywhere to charge an EV where infrastructure is lacking, and “Mobi Gen” a portable zero-emission generator for off-grid energy needs. FreeWire has raised ~$105MM through their Series C (completed in Jan ’21) with investments from BP Ventures, ABB, and Macquarie, among others.
