We first approached LinkedIn’s transportation group in early 2014 to inquire about the state of electric vehicle charging on the campus. During the discussions they articulated some unique pain points that surfaced as charging infrastructure grew to a large scale. The pain points resonated with the feedback received from interviews conducted with other companies that have similarly volumes of electric vehicle adoption among their employees. In the months to follow, we sought to develop a solution to address the pain points around large-scale electric vehicle charging. After unveiling our prototype, LinkedIn graciously offered to be our pilot customer.
July 13, 2015 marks the launch of FreeWire’s deployment at LinkedIn, just over a year after the prototype unveiling. A lot of hard work and sleepless nights went into this, so thanks to all those who have helped, and to LinkedIn for offering to be our pilot customer. We couldn’t have done it without all of you.
